The Dionysus was a bag launched during Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2015 Collection, when Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, came on board. The bag marries both classic and modern signatures of the brand - there is the “GG” Supreme monogram canvas pattern juxtaposes with suede detailing and embroidery.
This particular iteration of the Dionysus borrows from the brand’s Bamboo collection, incorporating a bamboo top handle over the flap of the bag. It is a homage to Gucci’s milestone, as the first fashion house to use bamboo in its designs. The bag is embellished with an ornate aged metal clasp tipped with two tiger heads, as a tribute to the Greek god, Dionysus, who rode a chariot flanked by the big cats.
This featured Dionysus has never been used, as it was a display item. Crafted from fine grain leather, it has a detachable blue and red web shoulder strap, that has been previously used. Additional items that accompany this bag include a dust bag and shop card.
