Though created in 1984 for English actress Jane Birkin, the Hermes Birkin has universal appeal and has become a desired symbol of wealth and status. Quite the investment piece, it has even surpassed the investment potential of stocks and even gold.
Finding a brand new Birkin on display at the Hermes store is a rarity. The bag is prized because of its elusive quotient - unlike most designer bags, it is not mass produced. Quite the contrary. The iconic bag is completely handmade, taking many hours to craft and worked on by one artisan only.
Featured here is a used Birkin 30, in Blue Sapphire. Crafted in Epsom leather, it is accentuated with palladium-plated hardware. Made in 2013, this piece bears the “Q” stamp. The metal fittings do not have scratches and the seals of the metals parts are all still intact. There are no major scuffs or rubs on the corners of the exterior of the bag. The interior of the bag is also free from marks and scratches. The epsom leather is still in excellent condition. It comes with two dustbags, clochette, lock, keys, rain protector, felt cloth and its box.
