A much loved and timeless beauty, the Constance is a favourite sweetheart amongst Hermes faithfuls. Although it has garnered less media exposure than the Birkin or Kelly bag, it is still a popular bag that can be seen on the shoulders of many celebrities. A notable favourite of the former First Lady of the United States, Jackie Kennedy, she popularised the Constance and brought it to prominence amongst the Hollywood elite.
Like the Birkin, each Hermes Constance bag is created by a single craftsman, and it takes approximately 14 hours to finish. It is a more mod and youngish bag compared to its more ladylike and sophisticated Birkin and Kelly sisters, and is a great AM to PM arm companion.
This vintage Constance 23 shoulder bag crafted from black Box Calf leather comes in a size and leather which have been discontinued by Hermes, ensuring that this piece is a rare find. It bears the ‘X’ stamp enclosed in a circle, indicating it as a piece crafted in 1994. Another unique feature of this beauty is the back pocket on the exterior. This bag has previously received treatment at the Hermes spa. The gold-plated and enamel hardware were lovingly restored, contributing to its lustre and shine. Overall, there are very few indications of wear on the exterior of the bag. However, there are some scratches on the inside base as can be expected from a bag of this age. It comes with a box, dust bag and a copy of the Hermes Spa receipt.
